Therapy for Perfectionism

in North Vancouver

Support for perfectionism, burnout, and self-criticism.

You're in the right place.

When high standards stop feeling helpful and start creating anxiety, burnout, procrastination, and self-criticism - therapy can help.

Many people with perfectionism feel pressure to perform, fear making mistakes, and struggle to rest — even when they’re successful.

Perfectionism often looks like motivation on the outside, but inside it can feel like never being good enough.

  • Harsh inner critic and fear of failure

  • Procrastination or avoidance due to pressure

  • Feeling that self-worth depends on performance

  • Difficulty relaxing or enjoying achievements

  • Feeling responsible for holding everything together

❋ Signs perfectionism may be driving your anxiety:

Perfectionism therapy is not about lowering your standards or losing motivation. It’s about building a healthier, more flexible relationship with achievement, mistakes, and self-worth.

HOW DOES PERFECTIONISM THERAPY WORK?

Using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), our work may focus on:

  • Identifying perfectionistic rules and beliefs

  • Reducing the power of the inner critic

  • Practicing imperfection safely and intentionally

  • Building self-worth beyond productivity and performance

  • Learning to tolerate mistakes, uncertainty, and vulnerability

What to expect?

Therapy is collaborative, practical, and paced to feel challenging but manageable. Many clients notice they:

  • Less anxiety and burnout

  • More follow-through and less avoidance

  • Increased self-compassion without losing ambition

  • A greater sense of freedom and flexibility
