Therapy for Overthinking
in North Vancouver
Support for rumination, anxiety, “what ifs", and worries.
You're in the right place.
When your mind won’t slow down, when you replay conversations, overanalyze decisions, and feel stuck in loops of worry - therapy can help.
Overthinking is often a learned anxiety response designed to keep you safe. The brain is wired to seek clarity and certainty, so when we’re faced with uncertainty and unpredictability, our brain responds by trying to think its way out. But this only increases anxiety, indecision, and mental exhaustion.
Therapy focuses on helping your brain learn a new, more flexible way of responding.
Constant rumination and mental replaying
Difficulty making decisions or trusting yourself
“What if” thinking about the future
Over-researching, over-preparing, or reassurance-seeking
Feeling mentally exhausted but unable to stop thinking
❋ Signs overthinking may be driving your anxiety:Overthinking therapy is not about stopping thoughts or forcing positive thinking. Instead, therapy helps you change your relationship with thoughts so they have less power over your emotions and behaviour.
HOW DOES OVERTHINKING THERAPY WORK?
Using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), our work may focus on:
Understanding why your brain gets stuck in thinking loops
Learning how thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and behaviours interact
Practicing skills to disengage from rumination
Building tolerance for uncertainty and discomfort
Reducing avoidance and reassurance-seeking behaviours
The goal isn’t a silent mind — it’s a mind you don’t have to obey.
What to expect?
Therapy is collaborative, practical, and paced to feel challenging but manageable. Many clients notice they:
Spend less time stuck in their head
Recover more quickly when anxious thoughts show up
Feel more confident making decisions
Have more mental space for relationships, work, and life
